Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

STORM 2019: July 9th – 16th

Between July 9th and 16th this year, the Short-Term Outreach & Relief Mission (STORM) team of 21 Americans and 1 Burundian ministered in the villages of Katapakori (Nakiria Block), Sasak (Lorugum Block), and Nakimak (Sopel Block), in Turkanaland, Kenya. A total of 266 people put their faith in Christ as Savior, and 207 people were baptized. A new church was planted in the previously unreached village of Sasak where the team stayed overnight. A total of 82 people attended the very first service there the following Sunday!

Enos Lomorukai’s Testimony

Among those in Sasak that attended teachings by the STORM Men’s Team was an evangelist named Enos Lomorukai. He walked many kilometers from another village to hear God’s Word. He got very excited when he heard the Word of God in his own language from the Turkana Audio Bible that the team was using to teach. That evening, the team visited the homesteads of the residents of the village. As the team walked back to their camp, Enos pursued Sammy accompanied by one of the Share-supported missionaries. He pleaded with Sammy to provide him with an Audio Bible. Sammy asked him to share his testimony with him first, then with the entire STORM team. Here is what Enos shared:

Praises and Prayer Requests
– Thank God for a successful 2019 STORM trip!
– For those who gave their lives to Christ during STORM to grow in their faith
– The newly planted church in Sasak to have a structure where believers can worship and hear God’s word

Adult Literacy Report

Share continues to work toward reducing illiteracy in Turkanaland through the Adult Literacy ministry. Many Turkana people are learning how to read and write in their own language. In the Second Quarter, we had a total enrollment of 1,448 adults and attendance of 840. A total of 117 students are assisting in preaching the Word of God, and 128 have joined continuing education programs. The joy of witnessing Turkana adults in remote villages read and write is almost unspeakable! They are reading the Bible for themselves!
