The SEED – October 2020
OCTOBER 2020 EDITION
Every day they continued to meet together… praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
Acts 2:46-47
Updates from the Zones indicated in blue are featured in this newsletter.
Lokori
Motivators and Champions are engaging in homestead-to-homestead evangelism and small group discipleship using Audio Bibles and other DMM tools to help believers grow in their faith and lead others to Christ. Through this method, 12 people accepted Christ last month.
Currently there are 21 churches in Lokori Zone and 22 Lighthouse groups with 22 Champions. Motivator David Koriang is sharing the Word of God with a Lighthouse Group in this picture.
Nakiria
The Word of the Lord continues to be taught in the villages in Nakiria Zone through DMM training, Prayer Groups, Lighthouses, and homestead-to-homestead evangelism. Currently there are 32 churches, with one new church plant this month in Kokiselei Village, where 40 new believers attend! Thirty-three Lighthouses, with 28 Champions, are joining in the work of sharing the love of Jesus with others using the Audio Bibles and DMM signage bookmarks. Lighthouses are seeing many people come to Christ. Stanley Lokwawi (Nakiria Zone Supervisor) is pictured here speaking to one of the churches.
Some of the churches near Lake Turkana have been displaced due to the rising water. These villages include: Namakat, Nariokotome Anam and Kagaki. Some of the Motivators in those areas helped with renovating the church building in Lokitoe-angaber Village, which had been damaged by the flooding.
From October 8th through 11th, Stanley traveled to 9 villages, encouraging Motivators throughout the Zone (Acts 15:36). The Jesus Film was screened in Narengewoi and Kangaki villages, with 465 people in attendance. A total of 63 people gave their lives to Christ and 13 were baptized in Lake Turkana! DMM Methodology training took place in these two villages, with 128 people in attendance. Another 6 Champions were commissioned in Kangaki Village, where Elimlim Kerio is the Motivator.
Below are pictures of Nakiria Zone Motivators training believers on the DMM Methodology in some of the villages that Stanley visited.
In mid-September, the Kenya government lifted the restrictions on large group meetings, as the spread of COVID began to subside. The churches are now allowed to meet, and Sunday School is back in session! Children who were afraid to come to church in the past are now coming to learn about Jesus.
Motivator Andrew Etiir training children on the DMM Methodology in Nakiria Zone
The video below depicts the testimonies of a Sunday School teacher and one of his students. It ends with a worship time by children. Truly inspiring!
Due to the fact that Motivators have been able to begin meeting with their daughter churches again, the number of children attending Sunday School has increased.
