Praises & Petitions from Turkanaland: Week 6

In Praises & Petitions from Turkanaland of 2020

WEEK OF JULY 6th, 2020

ImageThe young women of Nayada Zone are between the ages of 12 and 24. Many of them conduct their own small business, such as making jewelry and weaving baskets. They were once forced to marry older men at a very young age, but now most of them understand that they have a choice.
Before the COVID-19 pandemic, there were 2,400 young women regularly attending the Share-planted churches throughout the Zone. Even though believers are not able to congregate at this time, these young women continue to grow in their faith. They have learned how to read and/or listen to the Word of God and pray on their own.
There are 12 Young Women’s Lighthouses throughout the Zone, with 132 disciples who are learning how to share their personal testimonies and make disciples of others. So far, 20 of these young disciples have led others to faith in Christ! Ms. Alice Arot is one of them. Before she knew Christ, she was drinking alcohol at a very young age. Now she has been renewed. She is only 21 years old and has led 5 people to a saving faith in Christ. Watch the video below to hear a brief message from Alice.

  • God to protect young women from early marriages and child labor
  • The young women to continue to grow spiritually
  • More young women to become Christ’s disciples and disciple-makers
  • Education to be made available for all of the young women in Turkanaland

  • Construction of the Chokchok Zone DMM Center has been fully funded and is about to begin!
  • Pray that the construction project will be successful, and the crew will stay safe from coronavirus.
  • Sixteen coronavirus cases have been reported in Turkanaland. Pray that God will intervene.
  • One of the Nakiria Zone Champions passed away from sickness. Pray for his family and cell-group.
  • DMM cell-group meetings are strongly discouraged by Police and Chiefs. Pray that the cell-groups can resume regular soon while they observe social distancing.
